AAP's Ashish Khetan booked for desecration of Golden Temple

Wed, Jul 06, 2016, 11:29 AM
AAP leader Ashish Khetan has been booked for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, NDTV reports.

The case was registered by the Amritsar Police after a complaint was lodged against Khetan for equating the youth manifesto of the party with Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib.

On Tuesday, Khetan had apologised for the act, saying he had no intentions of hurting anyone's sentiments and promised to change the manifesto cover which had a picture of the AAP symbol, the broom, on the photo of the Golden Temple.

The case has been registered under section 295-A (hurting religious sentiments) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the local Civil Lines police station.

AAP has already been acting as if Punjab is its pocket borough. The single act may cost it dearly in the coming Punjab polls.
