It was the slush and mud following rain that made a man who killed his wife to be caught red handed by the police at Shamsabad a couple of days ago.

Roopesh Kumar Agarwal had killed his wife on Sunday night, cut the body into convenient parts, went to the city outskirts and started burning them part by part.

The people in the vicinity saw smoke coming out from the bushes and became suspicious.

The people sensing the burning of flesh rang up the police. The police arrived on the scene, and Rupesh could not escape because of the slush and mud there.

The police questioned him, and Rupesh began to tell his case,

Rupesh, 35, was in Africa. He married a Congolese woman Cynthia. They have a five-year-old daughter. Cynthia was close to a Frenchman. Rupesh saw their intimate pictures in Facebook. The marriage took a hit.

Cynthia wanted a divorce, and she wanted to take her child away. Rupesh was opposed to her plan. On Sunday night, he brutally killed Cynthia. On Monday morning, he dropped his daughter in her school as if nothing had happened. He then cut Cynthia's body into convenient parts.

Rupesh then packed the parts into a bag and put the bags in his car dicky.

When the daughter came back from school, Rupesh took the child for an outing. Twenty-four kilometres away he saw a place for disposal of the body.

Rupesh took the parts and started burning them one by one in the bushes. But the smell and smoke gave him away. People nearby sensed something wrong and rang up the police.

The police arrived to find Rupesh stuck in the mud.

The police handed over the child to its grandparents.
