Sat, Jul 02, 2016, 11:24 AM
The Rapid Action Force of Bangladesh on Saturday morning stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery Restaurant in Dhaka, killed six of the hostages, caught seven others alive and freed 60 of the hostages, most of whom were foreigners.

At the end of the operation, six bodies were found in the restaurant.

In all, 13 gunmen armed with bombs and swords stormed the restaurant amid explosions and took the hostages late on Friday. By the morning, the security forces stormed the restaurant and freed the hostages.

While ISIS claimed responsibility for the terrorism, the US security forces discounted the claim and said it was an act by Al Qaida or some other outfit.

When the security forces attempted a rescue at the beginning of the siege, they met with a hail of bullets and explosions. Two of the policemen were killed. They retreated and made the successful rescue by the morning.

Bangladesh had been witnessing a series of attacks on the religious minorities such as the Hindus and the Buddhists and bloggers and atheists.
