A 20-year-old tusker from the forest has died after consuming mango leaf sprayed with an insecticide in Tamil Nadu. The incident took place near Kappukadu at Sri Villiputtur in Virudhnagar district.

Since Kappukadu is near a dam, the officials spotted the dead elephant. They felt that the elephnat might have died because the mango trees in the vicinity were sprayed with an insecticide two days earlier.

Veterinary officials were called to conduct a post-mortem examination on the elephant. They confirmed the version of the officials that the elephant may have died because of consuming mango leaves on which an insecticide was sprayed. Later it was interred.
