Stop advocates strike, CPI pleads with TRS govt

Thu, Jun 23, 2016, 06:28 PM
Demanding that the TRS government should respond on the issue of division of the AP High Court, the CPI asked the Telangana government on Thursday to initiate steps to stop the advocates strike.

In a pressnote, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy alleged that the Union government was showing negligent attitude towards the division of the High Court, which was mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, 2014.

“It was sad on the part of the Centre that it was not even thinking on the issue though two years elapsed after the division of the united Andhra Pradesh State," he lamented.

He said that Advocates’ JAC played a key role during the Telangana movement, as there were strong Andhra and Telangana sentiments among the advocates. But still Andhra leadership was trying to dominate in Telangana State and hence Andhra Pradesh TDP and Centre’s BJP were trying to allot Andhra origin judges in lower Courts across the Telangana State.

This intensified the intolerance among the Telangana advocates, he said. The number of cases was increasing due to advocates’ boycott for the last 20 days, leading to severe loss to the people of Telangana. But there was no response from the Telangana government in this regard, he said.

Chada said the CPI was extending its support to the justified demands of advocates. It was not proper to the State and the Centre to say that the issue was not in their hands, he claimed.

He demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao respond to the issue immediately and mount pressure on the Centre keeping the intensity of the situation and injustice taking place in the judicial system.

He also asked the State government not to take back the Andhra judges allotted to Telangana lower courts.
