Brexit or Stay Put question before the British in EU today

Thu, Jun 23, 2016, 10:56 AM
Brexit or Stay Put is the question in the referendum on which the British are going to vote later in the day on Thursday. The referendum is for the British only, but the concerns are there all over the world. Will the European Union stays as one unit or multiple units without unity, is the key question for all.

If the British decide to stay put in the EU, the Continent would emerge as the most powerful, more powerful than the superpower US itself. If the British decide to have their separate ways, they would lose their ties with Europe and will have to ride piiggyback on the US for all time to come.

The British will simply answer Yes of No to a question whether to remain in the EU or not. Whichever side gets more than half the votes polled would emerge the winner. The question is, Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?

The European Union is basically an economic and politcal union comprising 28 countries. The idea of the union started after World War II, to put the wars behind and to project primacy of the Continent in the world. It has since grown into a single market.

The EU helps countries such as Greece which are profligate. The union has helped Greece tide over economic crises time and again.

Prime Minister David Cameron has already angled for special status for the British in the EU, should the stay put vote wins. The rest of Europe has agreed to the primacy of Britain in the EU. If still the conservative British vote out of the union, Europe will not forget it.

The campain for and against has taken a violent turn with the killing of a woman MP, Jo Cox, of the Labour Party, who was a votary of stay put.
