Police alert as Al Qaida letter reaches Chittoor CTO

The Chittoor district police are on the alert since the receipt of a letter by the Commercial Taxes Department about terrorist threat bearing a picture of former Al Qaida chief Osama Bin Laden. The police have started investigations.

The letter was addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of the Commercial Taxes Department.

The letter said: The base Movement in the name of Allah.'

There have been reports that extreme Islamic activity is going on in the district. Since the pilgrim place of Tirumala is in the distict, the police are not taking chances.

The police are investigating into details such as who wrote the letter and from where it was posted.
