“Buridi Baba” Sivananda, who allegedly cheated and robbed Lifestyle building owner Madhusudan Reddy of Rs 1.33 crore on the pretext of performing puja to multiply rupees by ten times, was produced before the court on Saturday and remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

It may be mentioned here that the fake Baba Sivananda had performed “money multiplying” puja in Madhusudan Reddy’s house in Banjara Hills MLA colony and fled with Rs 1.33 crore cash, which was kept before idols during the puja. As the news spread like wild fire, the city police succeeded in nabbing the fake Baba and his two accomplices within 24 hours and recovered cash of Rs 1,19,50,000 from them.

The police said the principal accused Boddappagari Siva alias Sivananda Baba belonging to Vandugampalli village under Kuppam mandal of Chittoor district, has been cheating and robbing gullible people in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka States for some years.

The accused Sivananda reportedly established contact with Madhusudan Reddy through one Mohan Reddy of Kompally about one-and-a-half years ago. Taking Madhusudan Reddy into confidence that he would multiply his money through pujas, he fled with Rs 1.33 crore.
