Rohan Bopanna bids love all to Leander Paes

Fri, Jun 10, 2016, 12:55 PM
While Indian ace Leander Paes keeps winning medals and laurels, he has problems with his doubles partner time and again. Previously it was Mahesh Bhupathi, with whom he has had running battles, while the Indian tennis lovers wanted them to play together.

Now Rohan Bopanna has written to the All-India Tennis Association, stating he wanted a change of partner and did not want to play with Leander Paes in the Rio Olympics. This is regarded as a shocking development in tennis circles.

The Rohan move was shocking because it came one day ahead of the crucial selection committee meeting.

Rohan would love to play with rising star and Vizag lad Saket Sai Myneni. Saket had been pairing with Sania Mirza and winning medals.

As regards Leander, the Senior Ace had lots of hopes of winning another medal while he is well into 40s. Perhaps Rio is his good-bye to competitive tennis. While finding another partner would not be difficult for Leander, it all depends upon the AITA to take the call.
