Malladi Krishna Rao takes oath in Telugu in Puducherry

Mon, Jun 06, 2016, 12:24 PM
Malladi Krishna Rao of Yanam exclave took oath of office in Telugu in Puducherry on Monday. He was administered the oath of office by new governor Kiran Bedi.

Krishna Rao is a member of the V. Narayanaswamy government that took office after much bickering among the Puducherry Congressmen. But Naryanaswamy had the blessings of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Never having contested the Assembly election, Narayanaswamy also lost a parlimentary poll. He did not contest the recent assembly election.

After being active in Congress politics in Delhi and in parliament when the party was in power, Narayanaswamy shifted his focus to Puducherry later. He quickly earned names as kingmaker and also `nari' (fox) in Tamil.

But Narayanaswamy is said to have dreamed of becoming Chief Minister. The dream has now been fulfilled.

Along with Narayanaswamy, five Congress leaders were sworn in as ministers.
