The `Raithu Bharosa yatra' undertaken by YCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy was strongly opposed by ruling Telugu Desam Party followers in Anantpur district on Friday.

`Jagan Go Back' slogans rent the air in the district. The police requested Jagan to postpone his tour of Anantpur by a few hours. But Jagan would have none of it, and insisted on continuing his rour of the district in the afternoon.

The opposition to Jagan's tour of Anantpur followed his overnight remark, wherein he said at Yadiki that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should be beaten with chappals for not doing enough for the farmers.

The whole district was agog in resentment of the remark. The newly formed Chandradandu to defend the TDP programmes, started in the district by Tadipatri TDP MLA J.C. Prabhakar Reddy, moved in towards Yadiki, where Jagan stayed overnight.

As the police had information that 50 lorryloads of Chandradandu followers were going towards Yadiki they fanned out in strength to prevent the men from confronting Jagan.

Jagan supporters also gathered in stgrength at Yadiki. To prevent the situation from going out of control, the police arrested some of the Chandradandu followers. They also requested Jagan to postpone his tour of the district. The Superintendent of Police of Anantpur with folded hands appealed to Jagan to postpone the tour. But Jagan insisted on continuing with the tour.
