BJP nominee in Bihar has 28 criminal cases

Wed, Jun 01, 2016, 11:43 AM
In keeping with the Jungle Raj in Bihar, where someone is killed for the fault of overtaking on the road, a Rajya Sabha nominee of the BJP, Gopal Narayan Singh, has as many as 28 criminal cases pending against him.

While the ruling Janata Dal(U) pointed this out against the BJP nominee, Narayan Singh said all the cases were politically motivated.

Releasing the list of cases, chief spokesman of the JD(U) Sanjay Singh expressed surprise, "This shows real character of the BJP. Like the others I am also amazed how a leader who had lost the assembly election be nominated for the Rajya Sabha where leaders of integrity and intellectuals generally sit. This shows BJP's chal, charitra and chehra (moves, history and front).'

Criminal background cuts both ways in Bihar. Mohammed Shahbuddin of the RJD is a two-time MLA who was debarred from contesting elections in 2009 because of his background.

On his part, Narayan Singh is prominent because he runs the Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Sasaram.
