Why didn't Jaya implement loan waiver last term?

Mon, May 23, 2016, 03:15 PM
The people are not to question why. They are expected to go and vote to the leader who makes effective promises. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday signed on the first file of the new term at the swearing-in of yet another term for her on the promise made in her election manifesto giving a loan waiver for farmers.

The Tamil Nadu people did not even question her during the 5 years of her previous term why she did not waive loans for farmers when she had the time. Clever politician Jayalalithaa knows the power of the promise than of delivering the goods.

There is a big difference between an election promise and carrying out a welfare scheme unasked. Jaya knows the dictum that unless asked for even the mother would not serve you food. Amma knows this very well as the leader who started Amma Canteeens. Unless people come and pay, there is no cheap food. So unless the people elect Jaya for another 5-year term, the farmers will not get the benefit of the loan waiver.

All promises cannot be fulfilled at one go. They wanted cheap food, so Amma gave them canteens last time. Then the farmers wanted loan waiver. They had to wait for another term, although loan waiver was the first file that she did sign after swearing-in ceremony at Madras University.
