TS YCP demands Harish Rao resignation

Wed, May 18, 2016, 01:43 PM
The YCP leaders in Telangana on Wednesday mounted an offensive on Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao demanding his resignation on his threat of attacks on any leader who tried to interfere with the irrigation projects being constructed by TS.

They said instead of threatening Harish Rao should answer to the questions of their leader, Jaganmohan Reddy, who was on a fast on the very issue in Kurnool.

The Minister, who was expected to ensure law and order, should not go about posing threats in the name of Telangana projects, they said.

The YCP leaders, Nalla Surya Prakash and Konda Raghava Reddy, were speaking to newsmen at the party headquarters at Lotus Pond. Some had even tried to storm the Lotus Pond office.

They demanded a white paper on the allocations for the irrigation projects in the State in the last 2 years.

They noted that the YCP office in Mahbubnagar was attacked and the party flags at various places were removed. The TRS government was running the State like a monarchy, and behaving like the Nizam.

They said YSR had started 36 irrigation projects for Telangana. Of these, six were completed, nine were under construction and 21 were partially completed. If only Rs 10,000 crore was allotted, all the YSR projects in Telangana could be completed and 49 lakh acres could be irrigated.

The YCP leaders said if Telangana interests were endangered, they would be in the forefront to lead an agitation in cooperation with all other parties.
