Four Trinamool workers killed in bomb attacks

Mon, May 02, 2016, 10:51 AM
The post-election phase in West Bengal is proving more dangerous than during the five-phase elections, vindicating the Election Commission's long schedudle that violence is inherent in the State polls.

Four people have died in the bomb attacks in the Malda area in the clashes between the ruling Trinamool Congress and Congress workers in the last couple of days. Many others have been injured in the clashes.

Trinamool workers had alleged that bombs were hurled by Congress workers, which resulted in their workers' deaths. The Congress condemned the charge.

There was violence on the eve of the last phase of the poll when a political worker was murdered. But bombs and other deadly weapons surfaced after the polls.

So far 186 people have been arrested in connection with the election violence in the State.

The results in all the five States that went to polls would be out on May 19.
