Pak F-16 deal in limbo as US demands full payment

Fri, Apr 29, 2016, 04:54 PM
The US-Pakistan deal for the supply of eight F-16 jets to Islamabad is hanging in limbo with Washington refusing to subsidise the deal and demanding full payment, which will mean an additional $700 million burden on the receiving country.

The US State Department had clarified to a BBC correspondent that Washington would no longer subsidise F-16 sales to Pakistan. The US Congress refused to approve of the subsidised funding for Pakistan.

The US change of mind comes in the wake of US presidential race wherein reports of Pakistan not doing enough to fight `bad terrorists' had come up. Good terrorists are those that do the bidding of Pakistan in India, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Pakistan had argued that it needed the additional F-16s to fight terrorists. It is well known that Pakistan does not fight terrorists but sponsors terrorists round the world.
