Don't play games with courts, SC tells Vijay Mallya

Don't play games with the courts, the Supreme Court told liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who slipped away abroad, on Tuesday.

The Apex Court told Vijay Mallya that he had to disclose his foreign assets. Also he should reveal the assets held by his family members.

In his tele-conferencing with banks and elsewhere, Mallya had given the alibi that he was an NRI and that he was not obliged to reveal his foreign assets.

Mallya is facing non-bailable warrants in several courts in India. The Rajya Sabha Ethics Committee had unanimously recommended that his membership of the Upper House be scrapped. The final decision on the Elder issue is going to be taken on May 3 in the Upper House.

With the Apex Court insisting on Mallya revealing the assets held by him and his family members abroad, Mallya's repaying capacity on the Rs 9000 crore bank loans is being gauged.
