Najeeb Jung feels pride as Indian, for Bharatmata

Tue, Apr 12, 2016, 02:08 PM
Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung says he is very proud to raise the slogan of `Bharatmata ki jai.'

In an itnerview given to an English daily, Jung said there is a difference between praying to Allah or Bhagwan and honouring one's nation. Nation is beyond one's religion. Therefore, he would raise the slogan of `Bharatmata ki Jai' with all pride.

However, it is not quite right to say one should toe a particular line of nationalism only. If one does not wish to toe the line, one should not be stamped as anti-national.

In any case, one should feel pride in honouring one's nation. One should be proud to say `Ma tere watan zindabad' or `Bharatmata ki Jai,' which mean the same.

Jung said he had no particular liking for Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar. The youth needs to be guided properly, he said, short of saying he needs to be counselled.
