Ringing Bells to make Rs 31 from each set

Mon, Feb 22, 2016, 11:31 AM
Ringing Bells Director Mohit Chadha says his company will profit by Rs.31 from each handset sale of Freedom-251 smartphone. Even after selling Freedom smartphone for Rs 251 they would be profiting by Rs.31, he added.

In an interview to a Delhi daily, Mohit wanted to know why he was being hunted by the media for selling the smartphone for such a low price.

`What sin have I committed? Do you find a single instance of either myself or my company evading taxes? Has any police case been filed against me? Did i ever run away with people's money? Why are you hounding me?' he asked the media.

The company has in all received 70 million orders for Freedom-251. In the first batch of alletment, the company would deliver 2.5 million handsets. By June 30, another 2.5 million handsets would be delivered.

The company had decided not to touch the money made through the payments gateway till the handsets are delivered to each.

If Freedom-251 is delivered as scheduled, it would be such a make-in-India that it would be beating the Chinese in their own game in the cell phone sector.
