You can't perform every time, Dhoni tells critics

Mon, Jan 25, 2016, 01:12 PM
The demanding cricketing public is getting on to the nerves of the Indian limited over Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Following the bad patch in his career when he is not able to score runs as easily as before, Dhoni became angry when the subject was broached with him during the Australian tour.

Dhoni said it was not easy to apply his signature helicopter shot on bouncers from Australain bowlers. Also it was difficult to convert yorkers into sixers, he explained to the media. But he constantly tried to win the game for his team. Even so, it was not possible to make big scores all the time.

Dhoni has been regarded one of the best finishers of the game. In the last few overs in each game, he had created a niche for himself by coming up with good contributions. But this cannot be expected all the time.

The public was such that they hail you when you hit a six. But if you get out in the process, they will blame you, saying `Was that fantastic shot necessary.'

Cricketing public is fickle. They want the team to win everytime. When the team does not perform, they want the heads to roll. But there is so much money at stake for the players that they would hang on to the team somehow even when they are going through a prolonged bad patch. But then there are so many outstanding players wanting to don the India cap that someone's loss is Team India's gain.
