Under-19 Indian Captain beaten in Patna

Wed, Jan 13, 2016, 04:12 PM
The Under-19 cricket Captain of the Indian team, Eshan Kishan, was soundly beaten by residents of Patna on Tuesday.

Kishan was driving with his father in a car. The car hit an authorickshaw from behind, injuring its occupants. Local people gathered and gave a thrashing to Kishan. He was then handed over to the police who booked him for rash driving.

On the cricket front, Kishan has been doing great things. He was grooming himself like Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. As a wicketkeeper-batsman he has been made captain of the Indian under-19 squad for the tournament in Bangladesh. The tournament is to start in 10 days.

There are no reports that he was badly beaten. So Kishan would be going ahead with his game.

Young cricketers should take lessons on discipline from Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar. The fact that he had lasted so long in top cricket is reflective of his discipline.

It is those who have made a mark in the Under-19 team that have played Test cricket. So the lucky ones who have made it to the Indian team should acquire discipline which will put them in good stead.

It is discipline that matters in batting, bowling or fielding. If you are not supposed to hit the outgoing ball, avoid doing so with discipline. Because if you take a chance, you will edge the ball into slips and lose your wicket.
