Tue, Jan 12, 2016, 02:09 PM
Indian opener Rohit Sharma broke his bat while attacking the bowling of Bowlando in the 50th and last over of the innings in Perth, Australia.

Rohit hit 171 runs and remained unbeaten in the innings, helping his side put up a strong total of 309 runs. The others who scored big scores were Virat Kohli 91, opener Shikar Dhawan 9, Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni 18 and Jadeja 10.

Australian bowlers Josh Hazelwood took 1 and Faulkner 2 wickets.

Set with a target of 310 runs to win, Australia were 70 for 2 when last reports came in after 14 hours.

The first match is crucial for establishing a team's supremacy. If India win, they will have an upperhand in the series. But the Australians are tops in Test cricket and also limited overs cricket.
