Two of the proposed 12 atomic reactors to generate electricity in the country will be sited in Andhra Pradesh as per the agreement signed between India and Russia during the current visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to that country. The agreement was signed on Thursday by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi.

In all, 16 agreements have been signed by the two countries during the trip. These include the setting up of a Kamev 226 T helicopter manufcturing factory and a Rs.40,000-crore industry unit for manufacturing Triumf Air Defence Missile systems.

A major boost for Indo-Russian ties is the decision to treble commerce between the two countries, increasing it from the present Rs.60,000 crore in 2015 to Rs.180,000 crore from New Year. This trade plan was discussed by the two leaders.

President Putin revealed his country's plans to strengthen trade and commerce ties with India on the occasion.

Prime Minister Modi described Russia as a long lasting friend.
