Mon, Nov 16, 2015, 04:13 PM
Nay Pyi Taw, Nov 16: Myanmar's two parliamentary houses resumed their 13th sessions here on Monday, a week after the country's November 8 general elections.

Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House) U Shwe Mann delivered a speech at the opening of the session, Xinhua reported.

Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of Myanmar's opposition party National League for Democracy that has won a landslide victory in the election, attended the lower house session as a representative.

The sessions of the two houses will be followed by that of the union parliament comprising both houses later Monday.

Discussions on the remaining bills including that on state budget allotment will be completed before January 30, 2016 when the present term of the legislative body ends and a new parliament is to be introduced.

The current parliament, which was elected through the 2010 general elections, began its term in 2011.
