Hyderabad, Sept 14: There is nothing to hee-haw about donkey's milk. The milk of the beast of burden is supposed to have highly 'nutitional benefits' in the rural parts of Telangana, specially in Karimnagar district.

There is a common perception that Donkey's milk the medicinal values in it can cure cough, cold and breathing ailments among the children.

In the past, washermen or 'dhobi's used to own the beast and people used to approach them for its milk. Today, donkey's population had dwindled and only nomads are in possession of the animal.

In Vemulawada and Karimnagar, nomadic tribes are seen selling the donkey milk in the early hours. Because, this milk is to be consumed on empty stomach by children to get their ailments cured.

But, what is shocking is the price of the donkey milk. 10ml of donkey's milk costs Rs. 30. If people want to add ayurvedic substance to it, then the cost shoots up to Rs.50 for 10 ml.

According to the nomads, unlike other milching animals a donkey yields around 100 ml to 200 ml of milk per day. Hence, the high cost.
