Mumbai woman seeks court permission to marry Abu Salem

Mon, Jun 29, 2015, 01:02 PM
Hyderabad, June 29: A 25-year-old Mumbai woman has moved the Mumbai TADA court to grant permission to marry mafia don Abu Salem. She even warned of committing suicide if her nikah with Salem was not performed.

The woman stated in her application that the police one day came to her house and inquired about her relationship with Abu Salem. They also inquired with her relatives about the same.

The police allege that the woman and Abu Salem have married in a train, with a priest performing the nikah over phone, when the latter was being shifted to Lucknow from Mumbai in 2014.

Now the woman says she was defamed among her relatives and in the village. Nobody was coming forward to marry her. Alleging the police of ruining her life by showing morphed photos of her with the mafia don, she said there is no other way for her except to marry him.

She requested the Judge to direct the Marriage Registrar in Mumbai to make arrangements for her marriage with Abu Salem. Her mother and brother are supporting her.

When questioned whether she really has any relation with the mafia don, "Already my life is totally changed with the police allegations. Now, what is the big difference if I really have the relation or not?," she replied.

The court, after reading her application, asked Salem and the prosecution to file a reply.
